 刘哲苑女士现任教于Fort Worth Southwest Christian School, 并为其高中合唱团指挥。同時,她也是神州合唱团及大地合唱团的音乐总监,兼任雅灵顿华人教会诗班指挥。刘女士生於台湾省台北市,五岁开始学习钢琴,自幼即 展露其各项才华,在光仁小学音乐班毕业以後,刘女士就随父母移居美国。刘女士在著名的纽约伊士曼音乐学院随名师
Donald Neuen 教授,专攻合唱指挥及音乐教育,钢琴为主修乐器,取得学士及双硕士学位。

身为中华圣乐团契创始人之一,刘女士历年来带领中华圣乐团契在北美洲各大城市巡迴演出,并曾任西弗吉尼亚州的Charleston大学的钢琴教师。她在一 九九一 年到一九九七年期间应邀担任世界知名之德州男童合唱团(Texas Boys Choir) 的指挥及钢琴伴奏。该团曾获作曲大师斯特拉文斯基讚誉为“全世界最佳的男童合唱团”之一。刘女士率领的德州男童声合唱团,在全美各地演出了几百场音乐会, 听众包括两位布什总统;其演出及录音深获专业评论家和广大听众讚赏,并多次在全国性电视台及电台播放。从二零零零年到二零零六年,刘女士曾任 Fort Worth Pinnacle School 艺术学院首席指挥, 每年都在当地有定期演出,并带领学生在美南巡迴演出。

刘女士就任神州合唱团及大地合唱团音乐总监以来,多次指挥该兩团举行大型演唱会,获至极高声誉。刘女士曾带领神州合唱团及大地合唱团到中国大陆和台湾演 出。二零零四年十二月,大地合唱团在福州和厦门演出,受到观众的热烈欢迎,并且在二零零六年,她再次带领的大地合唱团赴北京、天津和台北演出,同样凯旋而 归。二零零八年十一月, 在中国全国政协港澳台侨委员会的邀請下, 她带领神州合唱团在上海及北京和中国歌剧舞剧院管弦乐团及中国多位知名音乐家一起盛大演出「中国心,中华情」中美华人合唱音乐会, 被中国中央电視台(CCTV)全球转播,载誉而归。

除指挥以外,刘女士对钢琴也有很深的造诣。她常为独唱、合唱、器乐独奏在音乐会上和比赛中担任伴奏。作为出色的钢琴老师,她也多次被邀请当钢琴比赛的裁 判。

翻译是刘女士的另一个爱好与专长。二零零六年, 在拿到专业翻译执照後, 她就开始藉着翻译去帮助社会上各种有需要的人。无论是音乐或翻译, 她都盼望能用上帝所给的恩赐来影响他人的生命。

Ellie Lin, a native of Taipei, Taiwan, is currently the High School Choir Director of the Southwest Christian School in Fort Worth, Texas. She is also the Choir Director at Arlington Chinese Church, and the Music Directors of the Dadi Choral Society and Great Land Choral Society. She received both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Choral Conducting and Music Education from the renowned Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She has toured most major cities in North America, including New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco…etc. with Chinese Christian Music Fellowship.

Ms. Lin served as the Principle Conductor of the  Pinnacle Choristers at the Pinnacle School, a fine arts charter school in Fort Worth, from 2000 to 2006. While with them, she took the students on several concert tours, and put on annual performances for the community. Prior to that, she was a piano faculty member at the University of Charleston in West Virginia, and was the Associate Director, Accompanist, and Algebra teacher for the  Texas Boys Choir from 1991 to 1997. The famed composer Igor Stravinsky has praised the choir “the best boys choir in the world”. With the Boys Choir, she has toured all over the United State under the management of Columbia Artist Management, performing well over a hundred concerts. She has also accompanied the Boys Choir performing before both former President George H. W. Bush and then President George W. Bush. Her recording with the Texas Boys Choir has received acclaims from music critiques and audience. Her performances have been broadcasted on national radio stations, and featured on “CBS this Morning” and “Good Morning  America”.

At the invitation of the Chinese government, Ms. Lin led the Great Land Choral Society to successful, internationally televised concert performances in Shanghai and Beijing in November of 2008. Prior to that, she twice led the Dadi Choral Society on concert tours to mainland China  and Taiwan. In December of 2004, the performances of Dadi were enthusiastically received in Fuzhou and Xiamen in China. Again, in March of 2006, Ms. Lin led Dadi to triumphant performances in Tianjin, Beijing and Taipei.

Besides conducting, Ms. Lin is an accomplished pianist. She has accompanied many solo vocalists, choirs, as well as solo instrumentalists, in concerts and in competitions. In addition to being a popular piano teacher and a member of the Fort Worth Music Teachers Association, she is also in demand as an adjudicator in piano festivals.

Furthermore, Ms. Lin has a passion and talent for interpreting. In 2006, Ms. Lin was officially certified as a professional interpreter, and translator. Since then, she has enjoyed tremendously the opportunities to help people in need through interpreting for them. Next to music, interpreting and translating have become her second love. Either through music or interpreting, she hopes to make a difference in the lives of others with these gifts from God.
